대한민국에는 Day들이 엄청 많습니다. 이미 지나갔지만 2월14일은 발렌타인 데이였습니다. 많은 남성분들이 여성분들로부터 초컬릿을 선물 받았을텐데요. 그 보답으로 남성분들이 여성분들에게 사탕을 선물하는 화이트데이가 3월로 얼마 남지 않았습니다.

There are many "Days" in Korea. 14th of Feb was Valentine's day and I believe most of you had a chocolate gift from women. There is another day so it called "White day" is coming as a reverse meaning of Valentine's day which guys give candies to women.

화이트데이 유래 ( Origin of White Day )

- 화이트데이의 유래는 여러가지가 전해지고 있습니다. 그 중에 하나는 일본에서 유래되었다는 내용이며, 일본의 유명한 사탕업체에서 발렌타인 데이의 답례품으로 마시멜로나 사탕을 추천하며 1980년 3월 14일에 처음으로 화이트데이를 시작했다는 내용 입니다.

- There is not only one story of white day. one of them is the story from Japan. One of the famous candy company started White day on 14th of Mar on 1980 recommending marshmallow or candy as a return gift for Valentine's one.

 

- 또 다른 유래는 러시아의 하바로프스크라는 지역에서 시작되었다는 설 입니다. 러시아 하바로프스크에서 매년 3월 중순에 봄 축하파티를 열면서 겨울동안 이성친구를 만나지 못한 사람들이 '쿠라다'라는 축제에서 연인이 되곤 하였다고 합니다. 하지만 날씨가 매우 추운 러시아 지역이기 때문에 파티가 끝난 후 집으로 돌아가는 길에 추위에 사망하는 사건이 일어났다고 합니다. 이후 사람들은 몸을 녹여줄 보드카 한병이라도 있었으면 살았을 것이라며 보드카를 선물해주기 시작했는데 이 때 보드카의 투명한 색깔을 보고 화이트 데이로 부르게 되었다는 설 입니다.

- The other story is from Khabarovsk of Russia. Every March, people from Khabarovsk of Russia celebrate spring season so it called "Kurada" and many solo people find their lover during that period. However due to the very cold weather, some people died on their way home after the party. People said that if they had a bottle of vodca, they wouldn't be died like that and started to exchange vodca after that. The story is telling the name of White day came from the color of vodca.

 

현재로서는 무엇이 진짜 유래인지는 밝혀지지는 않았지만 길거리에 넘쳐나는 선물 포장들을 보면 업체의 상술이 아닐까 하는 생각이 듭니다.

None of them are come out into the truth  but I guess it is definitely one of the candy companies marketing strategy when I look at the bunch of presents on the street on that day.
